National Olympiad winners are awarded

Tamar Sanikisze, the Minister of Education and Science, The Deputy Minister Lia Gigauri and Maia Miminoshvili, the director of National Assessment and Examination Center have awarded 144 exceptionally gifted pupils, who have won in National Olympiads and National Tournament in Informatics. Certificates of appreciation were given to the first, second and third place winner schools. As for their 110 teachers-they were given monetary award and special Certificates.
Traditionally Komarovi students take part in National Olympiads. As a result , from 132 winners 37 are Komarovi students, among them 7- out of 15 first place winners, again 7 out of 16 second place winners and 4 out of third place 14 winners. According to the classes 18 are the best Students out of 87 students.
It should be noted that 4 Komarovi students showed the best result in two subjects simultaneously.
National Olympiad is held annually and on average, up to 200 000 students participate. 2015-2016 National Olympiad was held in following subjects: Georgian language and literature( for those who study Georgian and for those who don’t), Mathematics, Physics,Chemistry, Biology, Geography, History, foreign languages( English, German,Russian). The Olympiad was also held in Armenian, Azerbaijan and Russian languages. Visually impaired people could also participate in the Olympiad(using Braille). The Olympiad consists of three stages: school, regional and final tournament. The Olympiad was organized and held by National Assessment and Examination Center.

In 2015 National Informatics Olympiad was held in two stages- in three age categories and 7th to 12th graders from public and private schools participated in. 12 winners were awarded: 1st place( 3 students), 2nd place(3), 3rd place( 3) and 3 students, who are among the ten, according to the subjects. The winners were given monetary awards accordingly- 1000, 700,500 and computer gadgets for 50 GEL and accessories with gift cards and diplomas.
It should be noted, that International Olympiad Teams in Physics, Mathematics, Informatics, Chemistry and Biology are composed by these successful students. The Ministry fully provides their further preparation and participation in International Olympiads. Last year, Georgian students gained 1 gold, 2 silver and 4 bronze medals and Certificates. Georgian students participate in International Olympiads this year as well and as always, they’ll return to Georgia as winners. It should be also noted that Georgian students compete with the most successful students from more than 100 countries, which is the result of their high-level training.
All Competition awarded students, also the students who participated in National Olympiad final round ( totally up to 600 students), are having their vacation in English summer schools and simultaneously are improving their knowledge in English. The 40 best students will be sent to Summer School in Britain.
It also should be noted that within the summer school program, in 2015, three subprograms are being implemented and hundreds of pupils who have won different school projects. Among them ethnic minority form Tskhinvali and Abkhazia.
Besides, the pupils who have won in exact and natural science group competitions, will be sent to Cern and Kopernik Observatory and Science Center.
Another very important aspect is that, one final-year student- a member of Georgian International Olympiad Team, who isn’t able to take part in National Examinations( due to the International Olympiad), is allowed to enter the higher education institutions undergraduate program or as a certified specialist at accredited educational program without taking the national examination.
